I’ve never been exactly lucky in love. I’ve had a lot of broken hearts along the way and a lot of losers. So, you can trust me when I tell you that I’ve had to kiss a lot of frogs. But I have learned a lot along the way. Hands up if you get where I’m coming from?
Sometimes when you’re successful, rocking life and loving being independent, you don’t really want someone to come along and ruin it all! So are you looking for love or just measuring up your boo to this list? Here are some qualities you definitely need in a guy!
1. He’s happy to hang out with you
There’s nothing worse than a guy that wants to keep his “boys” separate. Of course, we all want time with the girls and he probably enjoys time with his guys, but you want someone to want to spend time with you because the main thing is that you are friends! You’re independent, it’s the 21st century, you want to be valued for your ability to have fun when you’re on a night out with his friends. Truth bomb.
2. He’s understanding
Ok so if you’re career driven, you’re going to be spending a lot of nights working, long days hustling, and you’ll probably bring your work home with you as well. You need someone who motivates you and understands the struggles, rather than gets jealous and envious of what you’re doing. It’s something you only figure out once you’ve been dating for a while, but someone who supports your ambition is a real winner!
3. He’s ambitious AF
Being the busy career girl you are, you haven’t got the time or energy to help and push another person to do something with their life. You need a guy who has his own dream, his own ambition and works hard for it and appreciates you for doing the same. I’m tired of wasting my time on guys trying to make them do something with their life – it’s their life to do it with. And a guy that is set-up is sexy!
4. He’s the right amount of honest
No one can be completely honest, and we wouldn’t want them to be, white lies exist for a reason… he has to tell you that you look good in that dress even if he doesn’t think you do! But if he is honest and communicates with you (in a kind way!), he’s a winner. You’ll trust what he says because he’s never given you a reason not to.
5. He has a life
There’s nothing worse than a guy who doesn’t want to leave the house, it’s those sort of guys that drag you inside with them – and well, that’s just not good unless it’s November and you’re binge watching Netflix on a dark evening. You don’t want a guy that’s going to isolate you from your life but brings you out more. You want someone who is social and enjoys being out because he’ll make you want to be out too!
6. He lets you breathe
When you’re in love I know you want to be together all the time! But sometimes you can’t hang out because you have work to do tonight, or he’s got plans with a friend tomorrow etc. Time away from each other is good because you long for the time together. If he can give you your space and handle it properly you’ll have a strong relationship.
